DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR TO HOST SESSION ON CONSTRUCTION HEALTH & SAFETY

The Department of Labour is to host an informational session ahead of the implementation of the registration of construction health and safety professionals and the implementation of the construction work permit in terms of the new labour regulations. The seminar will be held in Boksburg, Johannesburg on 9 July. Held under the theme "Construction Regulations 2014 – Implementation Phase," more than 650 delegates are expected to attend the event.

BMI REPORT INDICATES STABILITY AND OFFSHORE INDUSTRY GROWTH

The construction industry is showing signs of recovery, with expected government infrastructure expenditure, retail developments and residential building projects set to lift the industry considerably above last year's level, says the Aggregate and Sand Producers Association of Southern Africa (Aspasa).

DISPUTE RESULUTION CENTRE AT BCCEI

The Dispute Resolution Centre at the Bargaining Council for the Civil Engineering Industry (BCCEI) is now open to handle party-to-party disputes.
The BCCEI represents the interests of all Level 4 to 9 Construction Industry Development Board companies. These are companies rated to undertake contracts with a value of more than R1.5-million. They are also members of the South African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors and their employees are members of the Building, Construction and Allied Workers Union, or the National Union of Mineworkers.
